Skyron is a boutique business and political consulting firm operating from Nicosia, Cyprus. Established by Harris Georgiades, a former Finance Minister of the Republic of Cyprus, it offers expert advice on strategy and provides guidance and client-based insights to local and international investors. It also engages in research, educational and training activities and supports not-for-profit organizations.


Harris Georgiades

Harris Georgiades has an extensive experience in politics and business, having served as Minister of Finance of the Republic of Cyprus between April 2013 - December 2019. He is currently involved in advisory work and serves in non-executive positions. He is also Chairman of the “Clerides Institute”, a policy-think tank.  

He was born in 1972 in Nicosia. He graduated from the English School, Nicosia, and served a 26-month military service as a sergeant of the artillery in the Cyprus National Guard.  He holds a BA and an MA in International Relations and Economics from the University of Reading, UK. 

Between 1999-2013 he was managing director of a family-owned hotel business. 

In 2011 he was elected to the Cyprus House of Representatives with the centre-right Democratic Rally Party. 

In March 2013 he was appointed Minister of Labour and soon after, in April 2013, he took over as Minister of Finance at the height of a severe financial crisis. He was reappointed as Finance Minister in March 2018. He was successful in restoring the soundness of the Cyprus economy, placing it on a path of solid economic growth, surplus budgets, rating upgrades and banking sector restructuring. 

He was a long-serving member of the Eurogroup and the ECOFIN.  He was elected Chairman of the Board of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for the period 2014-15. He was also a Governor of the European Investment Bank, the European Stability Mechanism and the IMF. In 2016 he was selected by POLITICO as one of 28 influential Europeans and in 2019 was Chair of the Summit of Commonwealth Finance Ministers. 

In 2021 he was re-elected as a Member of Parliament and took over as Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign and European Affairs. 

He is author of the book “Perfect Storm” (2021) dealing with the recovery of the Cyprus economy and was a regular columnist for Kathimerini newspaper. He has appeared extensively in local and international media, including CNN, Bloomberg, CNBC, BBC, Sky.
